Visit to Burgess Park Food Project

Join us for the fifth gathering on Saturday, 2 March 2013, from 10.30pm to about 1.30pm at Burgess Park Food Project (on google map).

The plan for the day is to further explore the ideas about commons in relation to food production. Sue from the Food Project will give us an introduction to permaculture, which might intersect in interesting ways with what we have learned so far about commoning. We will then discuss and do some hands-on work in the garden, while also heating the oven to bake pizza for lunch.

On the day there will be little time for reading, but Sue’s introduction to permaculture should give us enough material for discussion. For those who want to be reading also at home, we propose a conversation between Silvia Federici and Max Haiven that traces the connections between food, agricultural production, women’s work and global capitalist accumulation. It would be great if you could choose some passages from this text to share and discuss together.

NB: We will bring dough and topping for about 4 pizzas, but everyone is welcome to bring more! Also jacket potatoes might come out nicely!

And bring warm clothes!
